Family
and Friends Picnic:
Details:
TBD
This
event gives us a reason to drag everyone out to the field to watch us fly
model airplanes. It is fun for everyone because it really is just a big
ol' summer cookout ... burgers, hotdogs, and fun are the order of the
day.
We
supply the food, you supply the water and soft drinks.
There
is no contest so this is just a relaxed day for everyone (except the cooks of
course).
Second
Annual Club Kit Build Contest:
This
contest is to encourage the club members to build airplanes from kits or from
scratch.
The
event is open competition with the only rule being NO ARFs
allowed.
Prizes
are awarded for beauty and for flying skills.
The
competition was fierce at the First Annual Kit Build Contest and the bar will
be higher this year since everyone knows what it takes to win a prize.
All
of the club members present vote on the models to determine the winner of the
beauty contest and a small panel of judges rank the competitors in the flying
skills contest.
While
this event was stressful for some of the competitors (some models had the
maiden flight early that morning) it was also a lot of fun.
This
year there are some secret projects underway, so the competition is already
heating up.
Lunch
is served to everyone in attendance.
