Here is the Horizontal Stabilizer and the Vertical Stabilizer with the Rudder.

I used CA to glue them together. The Balsa is thick and feels like it weighs a lot. I think I will check the balance of the model before it is covered and if nose weight is going to have to be added I may cut some holes back here. I am also considering adding a Balsa beam to make the stabilizers look like an airfoil. The Astro Hog is built this way and it looks very nice. I am a little concerned about messing around with this change since it could change the flying characteristics, and if it changed I am sure it would not be an improvement.

These next pictures are the remainder of the right wing construction.

Here is the first sheeting

This shows the leading edge sheeting

You can see the design of the framing, per plan there will be no web installed between the top and bottom spars.

Here is the center sheeting.

The next series of pictures is the left wing construction.

Armed with the experience of building the right wing and being pretty proud of myself I think this will go very quickly and easily.

Here is the spar pinned to the board and a closer shot showing pin detail.

Ribs on the spar

Shim at the trailing edge aligns the spars.

left_wing_frame2.jpg (63774 bytes)

Add a shim to the leading edge, the instructions say not to fight any warp.

Remember how I learned from the right wing and thought this would be so fast and simple ? Well here is my first real mistake. The leading edge is supposed to extend beyond the rib on the wing tip. Well here it is with the filler piece for the wing mount screws solidly glued and sanded to shape. At least the wing is completely symmetrical so I can splice a new piece of leading edge stock to the other end. I guess a little dose of humility here will hopefully make me pay closer attention throughout the rest of the build.

Here is what I did to fix it.

That's all for now folks. Check back in a week or so and if the the Great RC Airplane Pilot so decrees I will have more pictures posted.
